Epilogue
It’s been 11 weeks since the #5ringdiet came to a close. And a lot has happened in that 11 weeks. Camp Promise-West was a rousing success, thanks to your donations and an incredible group of volunteers and campers.
In my personal life, I sold nearly everything, packed 3 suitcases and a backpack and moved to NYC. And while I haven’t kept the Charmin bed or even the majority of my...
A Special Delivery for Camp Promise-West
Anyone who’s been to camp knows the excitement that comes along with a care package. And this one was especially exciting because it was sent to us by three #5RingDiet brands—Charmin, Bounty, and Puffs!
That’s right, our Twitter friends sent us enough toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues for all 37 campers and 41 volunteers…
…for this year AND years to come!

Put A Rings on It
One of the rules I set for myself during the #5RingDiet was no online shopping. It just seemed too easy. Took some of the challenge and fun out of it (not to mention the money out of my wallet). But if I would have been willing to spend a few pounds and stocked up on luxuries in London, here are some items I could’ve added to the diet.
Pillows. Uses: Pillows or heck, a whole bed.
Oven...

Ringing In The End of the 5RingDiet
The 5RingDiet Closing Ceremony party was the perfect way to say goodbye to my 24-day lifestyle. There was such an outpouring of support and generosity by followers, donors, party attendees, and local businesses, it was a great culmination of the last 24 days.
Cuna Sports Lounge on Belmont hosted us. And they were PHENOMENAL. Paolo welcomed me and all my eccentricities with open arms. He...

The Countdown Begins...
I had a dream last night (on my last night on my Charmin bed) that we celebrated the end of the 5RingDiet and then everyone went home, totally forgetting to stop at Chipotle for burritos. Actually, it was a nightmare because in my dream, when I remembered and looked at my watch, it was too late and they were closed.
So I’m inviting all of you to make sure that doesn’t happen.

One El of A Story
I was waiting for the train last night at the Grand Red Line station when two strangers asked if I had been to London for the Olympics. (Remember, I’m in head-to-toe 5RingDiet apparel anywhere I go.) My answer was “Yes, but actually I’m wearing all this because…”
The “because…” lasted from Grand until Fullerton, when the strangers who’d made...
The 5RingDiet Giveth & The 5RingDiet Taketh Away
I don’t eat McDonalds fries in the US because they have animal-derived flavoring, but in the UK, they’re certified vegetarian and cooked in their own fryer. I would’ve never known this had I not been spending 1-2 meals a day at McDonalds. And I would’ve never even set foot in McDonalds had it not been for the 5RingDiet. So after more than 15 years apart, McDonalds fries and...
The Weight is Over: What Exactly I've Been Eating
Earlier this week, my boss (hi, Jon!) told me he thinks I’m losing weight. I told him I think I’ve just been wearing a lot of spandex lately thanks to that Chobani care package and the adidas swimsuit I’ve been wearing as underwear, but decided I’d do a weigh-in anyway to see if he was right.
He was right. In 20 days, I’d lost 4 lbs. But I don’t think...
Thanks for visiting. If we get just $324.45 in donations today, we’ll get...
Hot Off the Presses: 5RingDiet Hits the Big Time
The last 2 days have been great with some 5RingDiet press! We’ve gotten mentions on some pretty awesome blogs and I thought you’d want to check them out. More awareness for 5RingDiet means more awareness about fundraising for Camp Promise!
Click on the photos below to check out the articles.
The first $1,000 donated to Camp Promise-West today will be matched! So click...
5RingDiet & Ryan Lochte: BFFs for DMD
Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte and I have more in common than you’d think. We’re both 28. We’ve both worn swimsuits for the majority of the last 2 weeks. We’ve both lost people in our lives to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. And we’re both trying to change lives of people affected by it.
Ryan’s focus is funding research. He serves as the spokesperson and...

Faux Ring Diet
“You must be eating a lot of Wheaties.” That’s a common response after explaining the 5RingDiet to a stranger. Actually, I’m not. Not because I don’t want to wake up to Bruce Jenner in short shorts for 20+ days, but because Wheaties are not an Olympic sponsor. Hard to believe a brand built on being the Breakfast of Champions isn’t part of the #5RingDiet,...

CHO...M....G....The Best Care Package Ever.
Before I tell you why Chobani (the company, although the yogurt is good, too) is awesome, it’s important to know that Chobani is not paying me to say any of this. But if they wanted to click the button on the right and donate to Camp Promise, I wouldn’t stop them. :)
Drastically changing your lifestyle is a lonely endeavor. I’ve been the weirdo at dinner who doesn’t eat...

The 5RingDiet TeamUSA
Last week when I was in London, I expected to see a number of #5RingDiet items I wouldn’t be able to find at home. And while you’ll see in my next post that was partly true, certain staples of the #5RingDiet were missing in the UK.
Luckily, I traveled with my own TeamUSA, because had I not, I would have had to go without some very crucial staples for six days. Charmin toilet paper,...
